Maker and age : On the reverse of these 8 classically elegant and heavily gold encrusted dinner plates is the green underglaze Heinrich & Co/H&C mark that was in use from 1930 to 1939. That means these plates are at least 82 years old and perhaps as old as 91. Heinrich H&C Porzellan, one of Germany's most important makers, produced excellent porcelain wares in Selb, Bavaria, from 1901 to 1976, when it became part of Villeroy & Boch, one of the world's largest manufacturers of fine porcelain. A retail mark also appears, confirming that the company produced the plates for Ovington's, a high-end New York and Chicago china retailer. Design : These exquisite plates would make a powerful statement of good taste on any table.
With a wide band of textured gold encrustation featuring finely etched feathers and flowers and a center gold medallion, they speak to an age of distinguished dining that has never gone out of style. Size : Each plate is 10 3/4 inches wide and together they weigh 12 pounds 2 ounces. Condition : The plates have been very well cared for throughout their long life. All 8 are in excellent condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, marks, stains, repairs or wear. The gold is entirely intact.
There are a few small dark spots in the gold on each plate - it's. Is a frequent occurrence in this type of gold decoration. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
