Molded in the classic Montereau octagonal with beading around the rim, the plates themselves date to the 19th century. Later overglaze paintings of allegorical figures (perhaps of life and love, and loss) in the Regency style appear in the well of each plate. Perfect for a wall grouping and display or for careful use on special occasions. Each plate does have some crazing, and there are some minor spots here and there, but they are remarkably free from chips and cracks. Montreu is imprinted on the backs of the plates.
