C. 1820 Chamberlain Worcester England 10 1/2 Dinner Plates #1677 Set of 8

  

Recent prominent Northern Virginia estate find. Offering a beautiful and quite rare, set of eight, Chamberlain 10 1/2 dinner-sized plates in a Asian inspired, Imari type pattern, #1677.

For their age, these plates are in very good condition. No discoloration nor crazing and very light to no evidence of use. The colors are vibrant and the glaze has a strong sheen.

Six of the eight plates are marked on the reverse side with the Chamberlain mark that dates from 1816 to approximately 1840. The other two plates are identical to the six marked plates in shape, size, pattern and design, but do not carry the Chamberlain mark. All pieces have some tiny. Right on the edge of the rim which looks like wire plate holders were once attached; very small dimples and quite insignificant. A couple plates have very small, shallow chips only on the underside rim and one plate a little more. And with two chips, but both inclusions on this plate only visibly on the underside. One plate has a small chip on the underside rest rim. One plate has a small (1 1/2), very tight curved hair-line. We highlighted all possible inclusions, even.

Ones, and added photos to highlight examples. Even with these small inclusions, these plates l. Ook as if they were used very sparingly and with care; especially considering that they are over 200 years old. Nearly all inclusions are only visibly on the underside; the set displays amazingly well. Please see all photographs for dimensions, condition and design.
