Antique Noritake Royal Ruby Occupied Japan 63- Piece Dinnerware Set (1947)

  

Eight, 7-piece place settings (dinner plate, soup bowl, bread plate, salad plate, fruit/dessert bowl, cup and saucer) of Noritake Royal Ruby china in remarkably good condition from 1947. Additional pieces are a 13 7/8 serving platter, 10 3/8 round serving bowl, 10 5/8 oblong serving bowl, gravy boat plus creamer and sugar bowl with lid. About fifty years ago, my mother got this set locally from a lady across town. I can count on one hand the number of times I remember them beings used, and mother certainly never put them in a dishwasher.

Washing and drying was by hand. The rims are almost all perfectly smooth when fingers are run around the edges. I found two almost non-existent, chip-like spots (one on a plate and one on a soup bowl) that can't be seen from the top looking down and are so small I probably couldn't find them again. These 63 pieces are in great shape, and all are marked Made in Occupied Japan. Mother would have a fit!
