According to an old marketing campaign, the outside of the plates are left unglazed in Mars to show the rich and imperfect beauty of North Carolinas iconic red clay. Used every day over the years, its texture softens and takes on a gentle patina.
Interior glaze is old soapstone. Mars/soapstone plates are from circa 2015 and no longer in production. Please note multiple instances of glaze crazing in the dinner plates- which are a characteristic typical of East Forks old soapstone.
