1838 Victorian Crested Set 4 Silver Dinner Plates 2476 grams Robert Garrard
WHAT A LOVELY ANTIQUE HALLMARKED SET OF 4 SILVER DINNER PLATES. IT IS OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY. And of a very good weight and very special being in such fine order. A quite fabulous early 19th century hallmarked silver set of items. It has a most attractive shape. The elaborate border is most appealing. Assayed in London, 1838 by Robert Garrard-Important Maker, Royal Goldsmith.
Refer to Jackson's pocket edition page 72. Curiously one is dated 1835 and identical. Each is engraved with a delightful flaming rocks crest and always has been, definitely no erasures either (refer to image).
The motto PASSANT CRESSANT ENHONNEUR translates into''progressing in honour'' and is for WALKER. Each lovely item is 9.875 inches in width. Height is 0.625 inch.Definitely one for the collectors! A truly special antique lot well worth owning. The condition is excellent and all it needs is to be used.
Would make a very nice present indeed. Each lovely plate is of exceptional quality and is a most delightful piece of hefty table silver. Weight of actual silver is a staggering 2476 grams (76.61 troy ounces), each piece is made of very thick gauge silver throughout. Splendid plates by a great maker.
